B-lines

Vertical lines that rise from the pleural line to the bottom of a lung ultrasound image, caused by fluid in the subpleural interstitium.

Found
Seen on lung ultrasound as vertical lines that arise from the pleural line and reach the bottom of the screen.
Normal
None, or at most a few isolated lines, in healthy aerated lung.
Abnormal
Several lines in one intercostal space, or confluent lines that merge into a white lung.
Suggests
Fluid in the interstitium or alveoli, as in respiratory distress syndrome.
