Conjunctival injection

Redness of the white of the eye from dilated conjunctival vessels; in Kawasaki disease it affects both eyes and has no discharge.

Found
On inspection of the eye: redness lying over the conjunctiva that covers the white of the eye.
Normal
The conjunctival vessels are fine and the eye looks white.
Abnormal
The vessels are dilated and visible as diffuse redness; in Kawasaki disease it is bilateral, typically spares the limbus, and has no exudate.
Suggests
Kawasaki disease in a febrile child; a purulent or exudative discharge points instead to infective conjunctivitis.
