Pastia's lines

Accentuation of the scarlet fever rash as dark red lines within the flexural skin creases of the elbows, armpits and groin.

Also called: Pastia sign, Pastia lines

Found
Along the flexural skin creases, most often the antecubital fossae, axillae and groin.
Normal
Skin creases match the colour of the surrounding skin.
Abnormal
Dark red or petechial lines within the creases, where the scarlet fever rash is accentuated.
Suggests
Scarlet fever.
