Synechiae
Adhesions that form inside the eye, usually between the iris and the lens, when inflammation such as uveitis persists.
Also called: posterior synechiae, anterior synechiae
- Found
- On slit-lamp examination of the anterior segment.
- Normal
- The iris is separate from the lens and the cornea.
- Abnormal
- Adhesions bind the iris to the lens, or to the cornea in anterior synechiae.
- Suggests
- Current or previous intraocular inflammation, such as uveitis.
